It's a disease where the victim coughs up flower petals due to unrequited love. It only goes away if the loved one returns the victim's feelings or if the victim dies. If the loved one dies, the only way to remove it without dying is through surgery, but it also causes the victim to lose all romantic feelings for the loved one and may even make them hate them. Occasionally, a person may have hanahaki for multiple people at once or even experience stardust disease at the same time.
